Halloween Pet Safety

Halloween is a fun and festive time for many, but to animals it can seem a bit too spooky! We would like to share our tips for Halloween Pet Safety.

Some potential threats to our animals would be:

  • Chocolate (which can be lethal to dogs)
  • Glow sticks can irritate a dogs mouth if chewed
  • Pet Costumes should fit properly and not have loose pieces they can get caught up in, or choke on
  • Many pets will go missing on Halloween night when they are able to sneak out of a frequently opened door.
  • Costumes and masks can make even the friendliest dog anxious, which can increase the possibility of a  bite occurance. Fear can make pets do things they typically would not do.

TIPS for this Halloween:

  • Be sure your pet has proper identification such as  a Microchip, and/ or ID tags
  • Keep chocolate, candy, candles, and decorations out of reach
  • Keep your pets locked safely in a room away from the frequent " guests"
